Nintendo {hardware} modder Shank is again at it, this time with a “reactive color-changing” Wii and GameCube moveable system.
It is referred to as the ‘GloWii’ and makes use of RGB LEDs & video processing to show lighting via the clear GB case. Here is a fast spotlight reel of it operating all kinds of Nintendo titles:
This method is predicated on the design of the “GWii” – an open-source Wii moveable unit designed by a person often known as Gunner (aka Gman Mods). It utilises a 5-inch 4×3 display, unique GameCube controls, together with a modified Wii motherboard.
As for the LEDs, they’re managed by a Raspberry Pi Zero W operating on the free open-software Hyperion, which provides “configurable reactive ambient backlighting” to display units by analysing the perimeters of the display.
You may get a way more detailed breakdown of how the 2 components hyperlink collectively in Shank’s full video above.
